We did not start with a business idea. We started with a season of farm visits.
Biocenza began with Team Hydroxycitronellal asking growers around Nonsan and Daejeon, South Korea how they actually run their operations.
Biocenza started with a season of farm visits, not a business plan. We spent it walking greenhouse rows around Nonsan and Daejeon, asking growers how they actually run their operations, and what we heard again and again was guessing.
Farmers walk the rows and check crops by eye. They apply fertilizer and pesticide out of habit. They decide when to harvest by feel. It works, but the costs pile up quietly: hours spent on manual monitoring, chemical inputs bought season after season, and crops picked too early or too late that lose value either way. There is also a cost nobody was pricing in, because those same fertilizers release nitrous oxide, now the leading ozone depleting substance in the atmosphere.
The more we looked at how much of that lands on ordinary greenhouse families, the more it bothered us. So we built Biocenza.
We replace each of those pain points directly. Real time scanning instead of the manual walk through. A robotic arm, in development now, that will harvest in a precise two to three day window instead of guesswork. A nitrification inhibitor fertilizer instead of the ozone harming standard. Labor cost falls, crop loss cost falls, and input cost falls, all at once.
That is the profit case on both sides. Farmers keep more of what they grow, and Korea's own smart farming policy and funding are already pointed at this exact shift. We are raising now to bring the first version to market, and we designed the same platform to carry us from crops into dairy, and then into fish.
Feeding people and protecting the planet were never supposed to compete with each other, and the families doing this work deserve better tools than habit.
Mr. Park and his neighbor, referenced throughout this plan, are composites drawn from farm visits across Nonsan and Daejeon, with names changed. What they describe is what farmers told the team directly.
Values that shape how we build
Evidence over habit
Every recommendation the platform makes is grounded in a scan, not a feeling, the same discipline we hold ourselves to.
Reachable, not aspirational
We build for the farms incumbents price out first, on commodity hardware, before we build for the largest greenhouse in the country.
One relationship, not one sale
Onboarding, training, and optimization continue for the life of an installation. The platform is a service, not a shipped box.
We have already put AI models on real hardware and made it work
The team has built and demonstrated an AI powered humanoid robot together. It is not the harvesting arm and it is not the product, but it is the reason the team is confident about building one.
